What is TeamConnect’s overall architecture model?

TeamConnect employs a 3-tier, network-centric architecture.  It is robust and scalable, making it ideal for large or mission-critical applications.  Multiple application servers provide for load balancing and fault tolerance.  It is fully object-oriented and can integrate with other systems, such as legacy, through open standards, like XML.

TeamConnect is a Web application and its architecture centers around the Model-View-Controller pattern implemented using JSP’s, Servlets, and JavaBeans.

In what programming language is the business logic written? 

TeamConnect is written in Java and provides an eBusiness platform that uses a Business Objects framework, integrated rule engine, integrated security, built-in knowledge processing capabilities, integrated document/content management, corporate portal, financial management, built-in collaboration, XML-based integration layer, and an extension API as its principal elements.

What hardware platforms are certified with TeamConnect?

TeamConnect is platform agnostic and hardware independent.  It is supported on a variety of application server and database platforms and works on any hardware and/or O/S platforms certified by the application server and database vendor.

What are the databases that are currently certified with TeamConnect?

Currently, TeamConnect is certified with Oracle, MS SQL Server, and IBM DB2.

What are the application servers that are currently certified with TeamConnect?

TeamConnect is certified with BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Oracle Application Server and Tomcat.

Does TeamConnect support clustering & load balancing?

Yes.  TeamConnect provides application server clustering capabilities.

Can customers extend the product to incorporate new functionality?

TeamConnect provides an Object Designer toolkit that allows system administrators to create new functional objects and to modify existing out-of-the-box functionality. Administrators may add, delete, or modify fields, screens, user profiles, security, as well as many other attributes.  Additions and or modifications made within the Object Designer toolkit are transparent to new versions and are supported.

Additionally, customers are able to extend product functionality using TeamConnect's XML API, for which Mitratech offers training.

Does TeamConnect integrate with other applications?

TeamConnect leverages APIs to extend functionality in several areas. For example, plug-ins, to authenticate users against an LDAP server or to provide users with single sign-on using NTLM, have already been written.

TeamConnect also provides the mechanism to plug-in custom Java code, enabling customers to log on to multiple destinations, such as WebSphere MQ’s message queues.

Our public XML interface allows external applications to communicate with TeamConnect over http. Using this interface, our integration framework, data conversion, and import/export tools move data in and out of TeamConnect.

Explain the security model in TeamConnect.

TeamConnect contains an integrated ACL-based security model that provides comprehensive security and rights management capabilities.  This allows fine-grained control of access privileges for individual users, or groups of users, down to the individual record level. Only authorized users have access to confidential information.

TeamConnect's "transportation layer" features key-based digital encryption/decryption using Security Socket Layer (SSL) technology, between the browser/web server and the web server/application server. Data encryption between client-browser and web/application server is handled by the browser's encryption capabilities.
